“We are incredibly grateful to be celebrating 30 years in Simcoe County and proud of the hard work, growth and many milestones reached by our staff and volunteers. We look forward to serving our community with compassionate care and expanded programs and services.” – Kelly Hubbard, Executive Director, Hospice Simcoe

In 1988 a small group of dedicated and passionate volunteers in Simcoe County gathered around a kitchen table, identifying the need for hospice services. Hospice Simcoe was founded when hospice palliative care was in its infancy as a community movement. The first office was opened on Owen Street in Barrie, followed by a move to Bradford Street before launching a $6 million capital campaign in 2005 to build a residence. The official ground breaking took place in May of 2006 and thanks to the generous support of the community and the Government of Ontario, the building was completed in March of 2009 and our first resident arrived that December. Hospice Simcoe continued to grow by purchasing land to the south-west of our property. In 2015 the community once again showed their generosity and compassion for Hospice Simcoe and palliative care, resulting in a new garden area and 42 space parking lot on 40% of the land.

Hospice Simcoe provides high quality palliative and end-of-life care for individuals living with a life-limiting illness and support for family members. Our programs include Visiting Hospice, Residential Hospice and Grief & Bereavement Support. All programs and services are delivered at no cost to our residents, clients and their families.

In the past nine years, we have delivered 24 hour high quality palliative care to over 2000 people who have lived their final days or weeks at our residence.
