Barrie, March 13, 2019 – In response to an ever-increasing demand, Hospice Simcoe is excited to announce that we have expanded to improve access to our Visiting Hospice and Bereavement based programs. We are committed to supporting more people who are dying and those who are bereaved in the Barrie area.
We have opened a second location at 130 Bell Farm Road.
“This space will allow our social worker and volunteer team to provide emotional, spiritual and psychosocial support to dying individuals and their families from the time of diagnosis through to bereavement.” Kelly Hubbard, Executive Director. Our 10-bedroom, 24-hour residential care facility will continue to operate at 336 Penetanguishene Road.
We will continue to offer our current community programs at the Bell Farm Road site and introduce some new programs, including how to help children understand grief, a pregnancy and infant loss support group, caregiver relief group and groups for adults between the ages of 25 and 40 who have experienced the loss of a parent or spouse. Unless otherwise specified, our community programs are available to all ages, whether or not you have had previous contact with Hospice Simcoe. Anyone wishing to take part in our programs are required to pre-register.
All programs and services delivered by Hospice Simcoe are provided at no cost to our residents, clients and their families. We are able to do so through the generous support of our community. Hospice Simcoe is a registered charity.
Our community programs have been operating since 1988 and our residence was opened in 2009.
