Group Support

A Grief Support Group is a structured, safe place in which individuals can explore their grief and emotions. The Support Groups are not intended to be a form of therapy but of support.

Start dates for Support Groups depend on the number of individuals registered and the availability of trained Hospice facilitators.

When we are grieving, we often feel alone and bewildered and our lives seem unfamiliar to us.  For the families and individuals cared for at Hospice Simcoe, staff and volunteers support and normalize the experience of loss and build on strengths of individuals.

What’s to be gained from Bereavement Support Groups?

Giving and receiving support

Discovering that you are not alone with your feelings

Gaining an understanding of the grief process

Having a safe and confidential place to share with others

At Hospice Simcoe – All services are offered free of charge.

People cope with the loss of a loved one in many ways.

As each loss is unique, each person is cared for in a unique way. In doing this, we carefully assess and determine how best to "companion" each person. We do not offer therapy or walk-in care or crisis care but deliver withthe premise that each person has the ability to heal, if supported by skilled and committed staff and volunteers.
