The Rotary Club of Barrie and the Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia Cheque Presentation to Hospice Simcoe
Barrie, ON, July 4, 2011 - Hospice Simcoe is delighted to be awarded with a cheque from the Rotary Club of Barrie representing another installment toward the completion of its original pledge of $100,000.00 made in support of the Hospice Simcoe Capital Campaign, which was successfully closed on December 31, 2009.
In addition, a cheque in the amount of over $8,000.00 representing ongoing financial support from the Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia was presented. This recent financial contribution from the Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia goes beyond the club’s original Capital Campaign pledge of $100,000.00 which was paid earlier this year. This brings the total financial support pledged and presented to Hospice Simcoe by the Rotary Club of Barrie and the Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia to over $200,000.00, exceeding the original commitment. Both clubs have been long-standing supporters of Hospice Simcoe, not only for the Capital Campaign but also providing ongoing support through other fundings and volunteerism.
Dr. Susan Shaw, President of the Barrie Rotary Club and Bev Morgan, President of the Barrie-Huronia Rotary Club were delighted to present the cheques in support of Hospice Simcoe to Jim McIntosh, Hospice Simcoe Past Board Chair; Bruce Bound, Hospice Simcoe Board Chair and Leanne Bentley, Manager of Fund Development.
To recognize the support provided by the Rotary Club of Barrie and the Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia, a Recognition Plaque was presented by Hospice Simcoe.
“The Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia is proud to support Hospice Simcoe. We recognize the outstanding work they do to care for families dealing with a life-threatening illness; in their homes and at this wonderful facility. Our thanks go out to the administration and the volunteer teams who give their time to our friends and neighbours in need,” said Bev Morgan, President of the Barrie-Huronia Rotary Club.
Jim McIntosh expressed deepest gratitude and appreciation to both clubs.
“The Rotary Club of Barrie and the Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia have been providing ongoing financial and volunteer support to Hospice Simcoe: from the commencement of its successful Capital Campaign, throughout the construction of the residential hospice facility and through ongoing volunteer support. It is in recognition of this ongoing support that a commemorative plaque was recently placed in the main community room at Hospice Simcoe where many of its training sessions and support programs are delivered. The ongoing support of these community service organizations and their members has been vital to the success we have achieved in opening this residential hospice facility to serve the needs of our greater community,” said Jim McIntosh.
