WHAT’S HAPPENING? This spring, people across Canada will gather pledges and then HIKE to raise public awareness of hospice palliative care. This major fundraising initiative will help advance the hospice care programs & services in Simcoe County communities. WHAT IS HOSPICE PALLIATIVE CARE? Hospice palliative (compassionate) care provides physical, psychological, social, spiritual and practical support to people living with life-threatening illness and those coping with the loss of a loved one. WHY HIKE? Only 16%-30% of Canadians who die currently have access to or receive hospice palliative care services. Even fewer receive grief and bereavement services. Hospice Simcoe’s palliative care is currently under-funded and under-recognized. COME HIKE WITH US Come meet others or form a team with friends, family or coworkers and HIKE WITH US. Teams can simply designate a team captain, choose a team name and together have a ton of fun! TAKE THE 42-DAY CHALLENGE & WIN GREAT PRIZES
